We spotted this moose on the side of the road. Her severe hunger drove her out to feed, despite the extreme heat of the day. In the full size version, you may see a tracking collar around her neck. Many of the moose we saw had such collars.
Look carefully... (click on the image for the full size version). The white spot on the ridgeline to the left of the tree is a big horn sheep. 17 sheep call this hill home. In the "Town of Jackson" gallery, you can spot this hill in the center of the National Elk Refuge.
Those are two massive coyotes pulling the last scraps off an elk carcass. Coyotes and wolves flourish in the area due to the National Elk Refuge. The hill in the background is the sheep hill mentioned above.
A small group of elk that reside on a private ranch. The ranch owner keeps them there by illegally providing hay for the elk to eat. He gets away with it by keeping a horse or two on the property and claiming the feed is for the horses.
