Big Sky 2007
(March 28 - April 3)
Bud Shaw and I recently traveled to Big Sky, Montana for a week-long FAM trip sponsored by Great Events & Escapes, LLC, Big Sky Resort and Moonlight Basin Resort. A FAM (or familiarization) trip is intended to showcase a particular destination to trip leaders and club officers in hopes of booking clubs for future trips. They wined and dined us and showed us a great time! I have no doubt Big Sky will find a place on our schedule in the coming seasons.
Big Sky and Moonlight Basin (which share one peak) now offer a joint lift ticket, making this combination the biggest skiing in the U.S. They offer over 5,500 skiable acres and 4,350 feet of vertical. Lift lines are non-existent and fresh tracks can be found even on the last run of the day. Our last day of skiing was a powder day and we found fresh powder at 4:00pm! Moonlight Basin - just four years old - is already considering expansions that will make this destination the largest in North America, surpassing Whistler-Blackcomb.
I would also like to welcome any fellow Big Sky FAM trip attendees to our site. Please feel free to look around. If you have photos you would like to share, e-mail them to me and I will post them here.
Enjoy!

Sorry this is so bumpy, but it's tough to keep up with a monoskier while trying to video him. |
Another video of Bob, the monoskier. He proved to be an excellent guide. This one is a little steadier, but less interesting. |
Bill then Bob ski in front. Nice job, guys!

At 75 years old, Gabe finds a way to ski the deeps all day and still have enough energy to dance in ski boots at the end of the day. Of course, it's much easier if you have a partner like Sally! |
