The water is crystal clear

Fannette Island, the only island in Lake Tahoe. Home to a small tea house, the island resides in Emerald Bay, the most scenic and photographed area of the lake.

You may be able to see some ice on the bay. This is the only part of Lake Tahoe that ever freezes.

The last couple pictures of Fannette Island were taken from the road you see across the bay.
