Heavenly

Standing on the sidewalk, looking in to the gondola station. This is the extent of this base area.

The gondola base. To the right is Nevada and California is on the left.

The top of the gondola is deceiving. The cars drop down into this valley before unloading. Then, you begin your long trek (or skate) across the valley to the nearest lift. Very frustrating.

And this is the extent of the top of the gondola. There isn't much to offer for on-mountain lodges. 4800 acres and virtually no on-mountain facilities.

Snow in the foreground and the deserts of Nevada in the background.

Fully automated snowmaking.

Out of the ski areas we visited, Heavenly has by far the best view of Lake Tahoe.

Skiers anxiously await their arrival at the top of the chair. With this view, it's a shame the chairs don't face backwards so you can enjoy the view during the ride up.

The same view without those damn chairs in the way!

Roger, I really love this one. This rock formation is interesting enough but, combined with the background, it's a great shot.

Another shot of the Nevada desert.

Can you tell which direction the wind comes from? The California side...

Blue skies warrant a picture.
